A Kansas State University graduate, her career was devoted to public service. Prior to retirement Mary Lou was appointed by Governor Bill Graves as Executive Director of the Kansas Board of Cosmetology, one of the state’s larger fee-funded agencies.  She served in this capacity for 13 years.

Mary Lou and her husband have been Topeka residents for 45 years.  A wife, mother and grandmother, she’s been actively involved with her church, schools and community. Her most recent volunteer activity is with Women’s Fellowship, Most Pure Heart of Mary parish and the Designer’s Show house, Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas, recently serving as Show house Co-Chair for two years.  Mary Lou and her husband are also involved in a farming partnership.
